Oracle Lodge 1003 is delighted to welcome to Freemasons' Hall, V. W. Bro. Ric Berman who will deliver his Prestonian 2024 lecture, 'The Second Grand Lodge', followed by an open Q&A.
Dr Ric Berman is the author of multiple books and journal articles. His first Prestonian Lecture (2016), Foundations, sets a context for the tercentenary of the first Grand Lodge; his second (2024), The Second Grand Lodge, focuses on the Grand Lodge of Ireland, the London Irish and Antients Freemasonry.
A freemason for over forty years, Ric holds Grand Rank (PGSwdB) within UGLE and is a member of the Council of Trustees of the Museum of Freemasonry. He is also an American freemason, a member of five US Lodges, including the Texas Lodge of Research, and a Fellow of the Philalathes Society.
Ric holds a Masters in Economics from the University of Cambridge and a Doctorate in History from the University of Exeter, following which he spent two years post-doctoral research at the University of Oxford’s Modern European History Research Centre. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, a Life Fellow of the Huguenot Society and a Visiting Research Fellow at Oxford Brookes.
